In 2025 Colorado State passed legislation requiring all municipalities in Colorado to create or adopt a Wildfire Resiliency Code by July 1, 2026.

With the goal of ensuring that Colorado communities are safer from and more resilient to wildfires, and reducing the risk to people and property through the adoption of statewide codes and standards based on best practice approaches to hardening structures and reducing fire risk in the defensible space surrounding structures in the wildland-urban interface in Colorado.

Pinewood Springs Fire Protection District adopted Larimer County's code, which can be viewed here:

The new wildfire resiliency code applies strictly to new construction and significant renovations.
